The illustration to the left is one of several used throughout this site. It comes from Hill's Manual of Social and Business Forms , a behemoth reference book originally published in 1884. Amazingly, but not surprisingly, its chapters on public speaking and writing remain relevant today. The formality and style of the illustrations and text make for entertaining perusal now.
